POM, short for polyoxymethylene, is an engineering plastic seen in the likes of zippers, rollers, bushings, and gears. Aside from having a spectacularly low coefficient of friction, it features high strength, along with temperature, chemical, and abrasion resistance. This makes it excellent for applications that involve physical contact and sliding. You may have also heard the material referred to as Delrin or acetal, which we’ll explain in a bit.
NOTE:
** POM releases formaldehyde toxic fumes at high temperatures. **
** DO NOT print POM beyond 230-240°C. **
** We recommend printing in a well-ventilated area, or with an enclosure and air filter”
Parts made from this POM 3D printer filament are heat resistant to 100°C (continuous operating temperature) and can withstand low temperatures to -40°C. Overall, POM filament is known for its chemical resistance and good hydrolysis resistance up to approx. 60°C. A low moisture absorption, as well as high dimensional stability and excellent toughness (even in the low temperature range) ensure that acetal filament is also suitable for printing parts in contact with water, for example in outdoor applications. The only limitations are in terms of UV resistance. A very low coefficient of friction and high abrasion resistance make POM a suitable material for sliding applications such as rails or bearing bushes and the use in the field of mechanical engineering in general.
POM is one of the most widely used plastics in the food and packaging industry. It is therefore also in great demand as food safe 3D filament. Therefore this 3D printing material is a food grade filament, declaring conformity to regulations (EC) No 1935/2004, (EU) No 10/2011 and (EC) No 2023/2006 including a FDA statement of conformity on raw materials.

Diameter 1.75mm2 ±0.03
Print Temp 220-240ºC
Hot bed 110-130°C
Drying temperature/time: 80°C/4h
Surface: Using wood or cellulose based platforms to print on is the best option. A cheap and quick alternative is to use a thick resume or sketch paper. Glue down the paper with a glue stick on top of your printer bed which is typically metal or borosilicate glass. Some users print using blue tape covered with hairspray.
